I took a yoga class the other day that totally grounded me in the moment. It was such a good reminder to me that the present moment is the only place I need to be. Lately, I have been finding myself thinking too much about the past or worrying about the future. When I am doing that, I am in fear. When I focus on each breath I take, or each step I take, or just taking a minute to just “BE”, I feel safe and grounded. Meditation is another tool to help keep my mind from wondering. When I am in the present moment, I am focused, alert, and aware of my surroundings, noticing every detail.
“But man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
